Please join me in welcoming new artist, Tony Hendricks, to Seaside Studio Art! Tony works primarily in acrylic on paper, an unusual ground for acrylic but very effective as this geometric study in color demonstrates. He uses a technique of painting called Pointillism, in which small, distinct dots of color for an image or pattern. Tony is a member of the Sea Coast Artists Guild of Myrtle Beach, SC and the Georgetown County Watercolor Society. His first exhibited painting received glowing comments from the show judge and sold on day 2 of the show! Congratulations Tony and keep those interesting paintings coming.

I work mostly in watercolor and pastels, but pen and ink drawings were my first love and I still enjoy that medium. Originally from Tennessee, I know I'll never get the mountains out of my blood and hold a love of nature in my heart and in my art, but about four years ago I brought my studio to the beach in South Carolina and those ocean views have inspired my art ever since. I’ve been interested in this type of art since I read a little about Seurat years ago. It would be nice to see a larger version of this photo as I can’t really see the detail of the work.

check out the image on the gallery page. It should be large enough to show detail. 🙂
